True, this is a baseball blog, but it is Football Playoff Season. For god sakes, we have to talk football at least a little bit. Its the world's favorite contact sport, and the players listed below have made it a great game carrying in to the new Millenium. Some players are debatable, (Madison, Bly, Umenyiora) so send suggestions.
QB- Tom Brady- Superbowl winner, best clutch player and the best at the touchdown passer.
QB- Brett Favre- Best ever, hands down, a leader, a guy who doesn't know when to quit.
QB- Donovan McNabb- Best African American quarterback ever, most underrated passer ever.
QB- Kurt Warner- More of a 90's guy, but surely one of the greats. Former Barn Stormer, 2 time MVP Kurt Warner has an incredibly accurate throwing arm.
RB- Brian Westbrook- Fantastic receiver and runner, leader of the Eagles.
RB- Edgerrin James- Has regressed, but when he was good, he was good.
RB- Marshall Faulk- Maybe the best receiving RB ever, he led the Rams to the promise land.
RB- Curtis Martin- Quitely the most consisten runner, maybe ever.
FB- Mike Alstott- Hands down the best Fullback ever. Perfect for short yardage, but gained 3.7 per carry anyway.
FB- Lorenzo Neil- One of the best blockers ever.
TE- Jason Witten- The best receiving Tight End ever. He's fast, large and has soft hands.
TE- Tony Gonzalez- Another one of the best. He has great leaping ability and fantastic hands.
TE- Jeremy Shockey- Had super hype around him, and broke tackles with the best of 'em.
C- Jeff Saturday- Most underrated C in the league, keeps Manning under 25 sacks yearly.
C- Tom Nalen- The heart and soul of the Broncos' line.
G- Alan Faneca- A fantastic player, and fantastic in Pitt.
G- Larry Allen- A great guard, one of the best ever, great and run blocking.
T- Orlando Pace- Very underrated, a key player in Super Bowl wins.
T- Flozell Adams- Another very underrated player.
T- Joe Thomas- The first super money O-Lineman. Plays for a weak team, but does his job with the best of 'em.
WR- Marvin Harrison- Maybe the best ever. Quiet and consistent, made Peyton Manning.
WR- Randy Moss- Brash, but incredible, has teamed with Tom Brady to be unstoppable.
SLOT- Wes Welker- New but surely the best at his position. Fast and a great YAC guy.
WR- Terrell Owens- Loud, obnoxious, but great hands and size.
WR- Larry Fitzgerald- Lived up to every bit of hype. Slow but agile, and has THE best hands in the league. Would be a perfect no. 2.
K-Adam Viniateri- Best clutch guy ever since Dempsey.
P- Shane Lechler- One of the strongest legs ever. The Raiders need him badly.
KR-Dante Hall- Fantastic with the Chiefs, has regressed but unlimited potential.
KR- Justin Miller- Highly underrated, makes the Jets S.T. passable.
PR- Devin Hester- Fantastic speed and agility.
Defense-
SS- John Lynch- One of the best enforcers ever. A strong, polite guy everyone likes.
FS- Ed Reid- One of the best evere. Great hands and great speed.
S- Roy Williams- Darren Woodson all over again.
CB- Champ Bailey- The Champ is near incredibly, better than Deon Sanders.
CB- Ty Law- Great, and great with the Patriots.
CB- Sam Madison- When he was good he was good. An A+ player with the Dolphins.
CB- Dre' Bly- Super underrated Superbowl winner. Interception machine.
OLB- Peter Boulware- Sack machine, complemented Ray Lewis well.
OLB- Mike Vrabel- Superbowl winner, underrated and another sack machine and role player.
OLB- Derrick Brooks- One of the best ever. Tackle machine and good at FF.
MLB- Zach Thomas- One of the best ever. 120 tackles yearly, and an absolute animal.
MLB- Ray Lewis- Maybe THE best ever. I hate him, but man, he is good.
Extra LB- Brian Urlacher- The heart and soul of the modern Bears, maybe the NFL.
DT- Warren Sapp- Great guy, great wife, the best when he was good.
DT- Simeon Rice- Great run stopper and great pass rusher.
Extra DL- Chris Hovan- Was fantastic with the Vikings. Scary, ugly, good.
DE- Michael Strahan- Great pass rusher, SuperBowl winner and nice guy.
DE- Jason Taylor- Nice guy, pretty boy, and one of the best ever. Sack machine.
DE-Osi Umenyiora- Good player, maybe the most solid ever.
